Collecting water data in the new target villages of Arraneh and Kofrdan

Over the past few weeks, a team was formed to compile initial data related to water and socioeconomic conditions in the new target communities of Araneh and Kofrdan. The data includes information on awareness levels, educational background; water resources and infrastructure present in the area; the demand and access to water, factors influencing this access, and if there were groups who have better access than others in the community.

This data will be analysed using the RIDA* analysis framework for water, and fed into the water resources assessment (WRA) report for each target village. The village WRA reports will be a preparatory step before the community develops its future vision for the water resource management and water service delivery in their village, and works on identifying the scenarios, related strategies, and proposed interventions needed to achieve that vision.

The above activities (fall under the Participatory Water Planning Cycle (PWPC) for Improved IWRM. This is a framework to an approach that EMPOWERS Partnership has been developing, testing and implementing in the past 3 years (Details in working paper # 3).

Other examples from Jenin on villages that have already gone through the whole Planning Cycle and implemented related pilots can be found in Meithaloun and Jalboun villages
