CARE
CARE International is the leader of the Project's consortium and the contract holder with the European Commission (EC), EMPOWERS principal sponsor. CARE has the direct responsibility for ensuring that the project contributes to the long-term objectives of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, fulfils the requirements of the Project agreement with the EC, and remains compliant to legislations and regulations.
The overall Project management is dealt with by CARE UK and CARE Nederland, while field activities are managed by the offices of CARE International in the three countries: CARE Egypt, CARE Jordan and CARE West Bank/Gaza. Moreover, CARE USA assumes a supportive role in the Project.
Through the three country Project teams, CARE is taking the lead in training and supporting government counterparts at local levels in the use of tools for planning and public participation in local water management and strengthening civil society groups that decide to implement the emerging priorities such as improved irrigation practices.
